How to Choose a Fantasy Masturbator
Love Smiths Fantasy Masturbator Guide
Choosing the right masturbator involves more than finding a toy with the smallest entrance or the longest internal channel. Internal size is important, but wall thickness, texture, penetrable length, weight and intended use all affect how a masturbator feels.
This guide explains how to compare fantasy masturbators, silicone strokers and other penetrable toys so that you can choose a model that suits your body and the sensations you prefer.
Important Information Before Choosing a Masturbator
We do our best to provide accurate measurements for each toy, along with useful information about how silicone behaves and what to consider before choosing one. But giving advice on sex toys, especially penetrable ones, is never straightforward. People with similar measurements may experience the same toy very differently. Sensitivity, erection firmness, lubricant, preferences and personal expectations can all change the experience. For this reason, the measurements and recommendations in this guide and on each product page should be treated as practical fitting guidance rather than a guarantee of a particular sensation.
Some Love Smiths products are described as FTM toys or mini masturbators. These labels describe their dimensions and intended fit; they do not limit who can use them. Mini masturbators may be suitable for people with a enlarged clitoris, a clitorophallus, a micropenis or other smaller anatomy, including anatomy resulting from metoidioplasty. But transmasculine people and trans men are not restricted to mini masturbators either. Depending on their individual dimensions (including after phalloplasty) they may be better suited to any of the larger sizes in our masturbator collection.
We carry masturbators in a wide range of sizes to accommodate many different anatomies. You will find a Size Chart on each product page with all the relevant product dimensions.
Decide How You Want to Use the Masturbator
Before comparing measurements, think about the type of movement and pressure you want.
Full-Depth Use and Pressure Against the Body
An open-ended toy may be better if you want to insert it fully and feel it pressing around the base of your penis or against your body. With an open-ended toy, the tip can pass through the rear opening, so the penis will not prevent the toy from reaching your body regardless of the relative lengths of the penis and the toy.
A closed-ended masturbator must have enough usable internal depth for your penis to enter fully before the end of the toy reaches your tip. Keep in mind that silicone is flexible. If you plan to compress the toy firmly against your body, it needs to be considerably longer than your penis.
Larger and heavier toys can create more pressure against the body through their own weight. External features around the entrance, such as lips, teeth, tentacles or other fantasy anatomy, may also increase the feeling of physical contact.
Superficial, Glans-Focused Stimulation
A compact or closed-ended masturbator can be a good choice when you mainly want stimulation around the glans rather than full-length strokes.
The closed end can help keep the toy positioned around the tip and may create a stronger seal. Another option is a shorter, snug-fitting toy that can be compressed or closed with your hand during use.
For this type of stimulation, internal texture near the entrance and in the first part of the channel may be more important than total penetrable length.
Fast Hand Stroking
For fast hand movements, weight and external size are especially important.
A lightweight masturbator is usually easier to move rapidly and control with one hand. Open-ended toys can also reduce resistance and accommodate different penis lengths, although the tip may pass through the opposite end during longer strokes.
A longer masturbator may provide more continuous contact, but it is not automatically better. A large or heavy model will normally require more effort to move.
Hip Thrusting or Hands-Free Use
For thrusting with your hips, choose a masturbator that can remain stable on the intended surface. A heavier toy or a flat side can help prevent the toy from sliding or tipping. Toys with larger entrances can also help guide your penis into the toy without using your hands. Avoid lightweight handheld models, as they may slide or tip and can be difficult to hold in place.
Travel
For travel, prioritise a compact, lightweight, open-ended masturbator that is easy to carry, clean and dry. Avoid large, heavy toys, as well as closed-ended ones.
Measure Your Body

Girth or Diameter
The most important measurement for choosing a masturbator is usually erect circumference, commonly called girth.
To measure circumference, place a flexible measuring tape around the widest part of the erect penis without pulling it tightly. When a flexible tape is unavailable, wrap a piece of string around the widest point and then measure the string with a ruler.
Alternatively, you can measure the width of the erect penis at its widest point with a ruler to obtain an approximate diameter.
Total Length
Measure the length that you actually expect to insert, from the body to the tip.
Take each measurement more than once if necessary… and don’t overestimate yourself.
Internal Channel Size: Diameter and Circumference
This is by far the most important factor when choosing a penetrable toy. Generally, the hole should be slightly smaller than your erect penis. A silicone channel can expand, but how much it expands and how that expansion feels depend on several characteristics:
- The thickness of the surrounding walls.
- The shape of the channel.
- The height and density of the internal texture.
- The width and depth of the entrance.
- The external shape of the toy.
- The presence of a softer core.
The “Find Your Fit” button in our masturbator collection page allows you to enter your penis measurements and hide products that are too small for your size. This is a practical starting point, but you should still compare the remaining toys by texture, length and intended use.
From this point on, “tighter” and “looser” refer to how a toy fits your specific measurements, not to the toy’s channel size in absolute terms.
A looser fit generally produces less continuous pressure and allows easier movement. But if the channel is larger than your penis, the toy may provide limited contact unless you squeeze it by hand.
A tighter fit creates more compression and resistance, but it can also make pronounced textures feel considerably more intense.
If your girth exceeds the toy’s recommended maximum size, insertion may be uncomfortable or impossible, and excessive stretching may damage the toy. Do not exceed the maximum recommended size stated for each product.
Choose the Internal Texture
Internal texture affects both the intensity and the distribution of pressure. It is the second most important feature, and a highly personal one. Some people prefer smooth channels, while others prefer pronounced ridges or bumps. The only reliable way to discover your preference is to try different textures.
Smooth or Lightly Textured Channels
Smooth channels provide even contact along the inserted length and work particularly well in snug masturbators, where compression is distributed consistently.
They may also suit highly sensitive users or those unsure about pronounced textures. In a looser toy, however, a smooth channel may feel less stimulating.

Examples of toys with smooth channels: Trolless and Tattooed Elfess.
Pronounced Ridges and Bumps
Ridges, ribs and bumps create changing points of pressure as the toy moves, stimulating different areas during each stroke.
They can provide noticeable contact in a relatively roomy channel. But in a tight-fitting toy, each raised feature presses more firmly against the body, making them more intense and potentially uncomfortable.

Examples of toys with pronounced bumps and ridges: Ogre Dragoness and Orkess.
Dense or Widely Spaced Texture
Dense textures create frequent changes in sensation during movement, producing a busier and more continuous feeling.
Widely spaced textures create more clearly separated moments of pressure and release, making each individual ridge or bump easier to notice.

Examples of toys with high (Werewolfess, top) and low density textures (Dwarfess, bottom).
Flexibility: Wall Thickness and Super-Soft Core

Wall Thickness
All other characteristics being equal, thick walls resist expansion more than thin walls. They can therefore make a channel feel more compressive. Thick walls pair well with tight, smooth toys, reinforcing the evenly distributed compression.
Thin walls flex and expand more easily. They can make pronounced internal textures move away from the body under pressure, reducing their intensity. Thin walls pair well with loose, ridged toys, allowing ridges and bumps to move more freely.
Dual-Density Super-Soft Core
Some toys have an inner core made of softer silicone. This doesn’t significantly increase the toy’s maximum stretch; however, it creates a softer, more delicate sensation. In highly textured toys, the softer core can soften the feel of pronounced textures without eliminating them.
Examine the Entrance

The entrance shape mainly determines how easily insertion begins and where the initial pressure is felt.
A wide, funnel-shaped entrance is generally easier to enter and initially feels less restrictive. It may be helpful for people who do not always maintain a very firm erection or who prefer a gradual increase in pressure. However, for people with shorter penises, a deep or strongly flared entrance may use part of the available length before the most stimulating internal textures are reached.
A toy with a narrow entrance may create a stronger seal and more noticeable suction when the rear opening is closed.
However, entrance width does not determine the fit of the entire masturbator. Some toys have a wide entrance followed by a narrow internal section, while others have a snug entrance that opens into a larger chamber. Always check the complete channel shape and size!
Check the Usable Penetrable Length
No magic formula here: just look for something around your length.
The ideal usable length depends on how deeply you want to insert and whether the toy is open-ended or closed-ended.

Open-Ended Masturbators
An open-ended channel can accommodate a penis that is longer than the toy because the tip can pass through the far end.
This is usually not a problem, but it means the glans may temporarily lose contact with the internal texture during long strokes.
Open-ended toys are easier to rinse and allow you to control the suction by squeezing or closing the rear opening with your hand.
Closed-Ended Masturbators
A closed-ended masturbator keeps the penis enclosed and can create a stronger seal and more suction.
For full-depth use, the usable internal channel should be longer than your penis, with additional length if you want to compress the toy firmly against your body.
A shorter closed-ended masturbator can still be appropriate when the main objective is glans-focused stimulation rather than full insertion.
External Shape
External shape affects grip, stability and contact with the body. Appendages and fantasy anatomy may make the toy easier to hold or stabilise, but they also increase its overall dimensions and weight.
Beyond these practical considerations, fantasy is part of the experience. Choose a shape, creature or design that excites your imagination and makes the toy appealing to you.
